Kerry's Experimental Stuff
Hi! This page points to various experimental
items I may (or may not) be currently working on. Be aware the
content will vary depending on my personal interest at the moment and
the time I have available to build things. Also, there is no
guarantee any of this works. In any case, the following are currently
available:
- A 3D moov of my
basement, built using QuicktimeVR. These 3D things are relatively easy to make, if you
have a camcorder and a Mac. However, there are many small details
one must be concerned with if it is to come out well. For
instance, you'll notice a slight overlap when it starts - the
beginning and end of the "tape" have a repeated scene.
- Another 3D moov, this time of the
cafeteria at Great-West
Life, where I work. No, really, the
food is not that bad - I took the picture on a Sunday when no one
was there - honest! While the picture quality is much better, I
lost a lot of the vertical dimension since I didn't have a tripod
when scanning the scene, and worse, the "head" of the movie
doesn't match up with the "tail". A tripod is an absolute
requirement for anyone doing 3D movies like this.
- A goofy little Java applet which purports to calculate your net
worth over the years. Simply fill
out the fields and it calculates how much dough you have over the
rest of your life. Note that if you fall "below the line", well,
let's just say that's Not A Good Thing. *NOTE* you must have a
Java-enabled
browser to view this applet.
